Who We Are

Home of Topeka Soccer Club and Chiefs NFL Flag, Sunflower Sports Association is dedicated to providing boys and girls, from U3 through high school, the opportunity to learn and play sports in a fun, safe, inclusive, and family-oriented environment.

We believe youth sports play a vital role in a child’s growth and development. Participation in sports fosters physical fitness, social connections, and valuable life skills—such as self-confidence, discipline, focus, teamwork, and motivation—that extend far beyond the field.

Our Leadership
Sunflower Sports Association is guided by a dedicated Board of Trustees, comprised of volunteer leaders from our local community—many of whom are parents, coaches, or both. The Board meets on the third Monday of every month (except December), and these meetings are open to the public.

Sunflower Sports Complex: Our Premier Facility

United Through Sports, Inspiring Excellence and Growth

We are proud to call the Sunflower Sports Complex home. Spanning 46 acres, our facility offers a variety of field options to meet every player’s needs, including 11v11, 9v9, 7v7, 5v5, and 4v4 practice fields, as well as designated flag football fields. Additionally, the complex features an office building with restrooms and a fully stocked concession stand for your convenience.

A Unique Foundation

Our success is rooted in the generosity of the Whiteman family, who made the purchase of this land possible with a favorable offer. Unlike most American soccer leagues—including the five major youth leagues in Kansas City that rely on rented fields—Sunflower Sports Assocation owns its complex. This unique ownership model helps us keep player fees affordable while providing high-quality facilities for our community.

Top-Quality Facilities

Our dedicated full-time maintenance and office staff work tirelessly to ensure that our fields are in pristine condition year-round. From lush green grass to carefully managed turf, we strive to deliver best-in-class fields for practices and games. The Sunflower Soccer Association Board of Trustees oversees the complex’s operations to ensure its continued success and sustainability.

Championship Turf Field

In 2020, we proudly introduced a Championship Turf Field to our complex. This project was made possible through funding from the City of Topeka’s Transient Guest Tax—a tax charged to visitors staying in local hotels. These funds are strategically invested in organizations that boost tourism and economic growth in the Topeka area. This investment reflects a powerful partnership between the City of Topeka, Sunflower Sports Association, and our local economy.

At Sunflower Sports Complex, we are committed to providing a premier space where athletes, families, and our community can come together to play, grow, and thrive.
